PUMA Northern Championships – October 5th 2013


PUMA/New Century Taekwon-Do also had a good day at the PUMA Northern Championships.   Held at the Biddulph Valley Leisure Centre this was our turn to host a national tournament, entries included competitors from Oxford, Bristol and the Exeter area.   As well as the normal format of Sparring, Patterns and Destruction the Little Puma
(4–7 year olds) division performed a drill and high kick. New Century brought home the following: (In no particular order, division and grades not shown).

  • PUMA’s 29th Presentation Evening – October 19th 2013


    Students, families and friends all got together to celebrate Blackbelt and other awards at PUMA’s 29th Presentation evening held at the Oasis Centre Swindon.    It was a special occasion to celebrate and congratulate the students who have trained over four years for the honour a PUMA Blackbelt.    The chairman of PUMA Master Ray Gayle 8th Degree personally congratulated everyone and presented them with their belts.    He also honoured Paul Wedgwood with the best male colourbelt award.    Leek’s Jacob Bode provided some of the entertainment by demonstrating his sparring skills.   It was a great night with PUMA/New Century Taekwon–Do having the following successes:

  •   Jacob Bode – Promoted to 2nd Degree.
  •   Paul Wedgwood – Promoted to 1st Degree. Top Male Colourbelt award.
  •   Gary King – Promoted to 1st Degree.
  •   Helen Craven – Promoted to 1st Degree.

    Master Gayle Seminar 9th November 2013.


    New Century Blackbelts enjoyed a Seminar with P.U.M.A.’s Senior Master Gayle 8th Degree.
    Held at the New Horizons Sport and Leisure Centre Chell a group of New Century Blackbelts took part in a two hour technical Seminar with Senior Master Gayle 8th Degree, all who took part went home with lots of useful tips on how to improve their Taekwon-Do.
